QR code from a link

Paste a link and get a QR code: PNG for a chat, SVG for print. A separate mode builds a Wi-Fi code, a guest points the camera and joins without typing the password. Everything is drawn on your device.

The code is built on your device: neither the link nor the Wi-Fi password goes to a server. The downloadable file is created in the browser too.

What error correction is for

A QR code stores data with redundancy: part of it can be covered or dirty and it still reads. L keeps about 7 % in reserve, H about 30 %, but the higher the reserve, the denser the matrix. M is enough for a screen; pick Q or H for an outdoor sticker or a code with a logo in the middle.

PNG or SVG

PNG is a ready-made image: drop it into a chat or a slide. SVG is vector: it scales without losing sharpness and suits print at any size, from a business card to a poster.

The Wi-Fi code

The Wi-Fi mode encodes the network name, the encryption type and the password into a WIFI: string. iPhone and Android cameras recognize it and offer to join. Handy for a guest network, nobody has to read the password out loud.

A VPN key travels as a code too

> A QR code is a link written in dots; it does not expire. But it points exactly where you made it point: if the page disappears, the code leads nowhere. For addresses that may change, use a short redirect link.
[02] $ Is the data really not sent to a server? ▸
> Yes. The encoder runs in the browser and the page makes no request with your text. You can go offline after the page loads and the code will still be built.
[03] $ What size should I use for print? ▸
> A simple rule: the side of the code is about ten times smaller than the distance it is scanned from. Two or three centimeters is enough for a flyer in hand; a poster needs twenty or more, use SVG, it will not fall apart when enlarged.
[04] $ Can I put a logo in the middle? ▸
> Yes, if you pick error correction Q or H and cover no more than a quarter of the code. Test the result with at least two phones before printing.
